This Is My Story. And I Earned Every Word of It.
I have been doing this for 35 years.
Not reading about it. Not consulting from a safe distance. Doing it — in the rooms where the hard decisions get made, the budgets get cut, and people's careers get decided in a 5pm meeting with no agenda.
If you've been in HR long enough, you know exactly what a no-agenda 5pm meeting means.
I've sat at diverse tables. County and city government. Agricultural lending. Retail. Nonprofit. City council chambers. Union bargaining tables. Franchise operations.
Boardrooms. And yes — I have sat across the table from a union negotiator named Mr. Pickles. That story is exactly as good as it sounds.
I walked into rooms as the only woman. Rooms where the board had eleven members, one female, and seven executives — also one female. Me. I built the data. I documented everything. I presented the numbers. I made the case in ROI because that was the only language that bought me another quarter in the room.
And then I got fired anyway.
Not because my numbers were wrong. They were right — which was exactly the problem. Not because my performance was lacking. My CEO went to bat for me and the board pushed him out shortly after. Not because I wasn't qualified. I was the most well-known HR professional in the region with 30 years of experience, and they knew it.
I got fired because I had a voice. And I used it. And as HR does, called people out on their "bad managing of people."
Firing the most qualified HR professional in the room wasn't the end of my story—it was the beginning. That experience, including the dysfunction and the wrongful termination, became my curriculum. I lived the reality most consultants only teach in theory.
Most would be embarrassed to share the story. The story is my purpose. We cannot continue to lead in the same way. CEOs across businesses need to understand this, boards need to be accountable. We need to lead change with courage and emotional capacity to step up.
After 35 years across six industries, I don’t speak from theory. HR Hangover Survivors find me, and CEOs hire me, because I’ve been through the fire, kept the receipts, and built a framework that actually works.
Cheerio, Reanette Etzler

THAT'S WHERE I WORK
I have always been drawn to the strategy of HR. Not the paperwork. The part where people decisions become business outcomes.
As a CHRO and CAO, I had to tie people strategy to financial outcomes — or lose the budget. So I learned to speak CEO before most HR professionals knew that was a language they needed.
Thirty years. Six industries. Boardrooms, union tables, city councils, and corner offices. One thing never changed: HR doesn't always know how to fill the gaps.
That gap became my life's work — and the reason I built The Strategic HR Coach.
I teach HR professionals and CEOs how to stop running a support department and start driving strategy through people.
The thing that changed everything always came down to one thing.
The employee experience.
THE PROBLEM
We are facing an operational paradox: HR is data-rich in transactions but completely blind to the actual employee experience. This administrative immersion forces a reactive posture where compliance takes precedence over culture. When professional hours are entirely monopolized by processing forms and managing baseline regulations, we miss the critical inflection points in the employee journey. An exceptional employee experience cannot be built by an HR team running on transactional fumes; we must automate administrative workflows to recapture the capacity needed to design strategic people experiences.
THE SOLUTION
To reclaim the capacity needed to design an exceptional employee experience, the operational model must change. The Strategic HR Coach leverages the IMPACT Model™ to teach CEOs and HR leaders how to transition from reactive form-processing to proactive, transformational execution. This is an entirely execution-based methodology—free from theoretical fluff—delivering the practical strategy, bottom-line metrics, and executive language that makes the C-suite listen, act, and invest.
THE ROI
This is the real-world return on investment: when HR steps up to lead the path, the intentional design of the employee experience becomes a direct driver of fiscal performance. Organizations stop bleeding capital through high turnover, cultural misalignment, and missed market opportunities. By taking ownership of the employee journey, HR introduces a model where people decisions are evaluated with the same analytical rigor as any capital investment. The outcome is a measurable reduction in turnover expenses, accelerated speed to productivity, and a permanently secured seat at the executive table because the data proves that an exceptional employee experience drives bottom-line revenue.
